Primis Bank Announces Director of Digital Platforms
Sonny Werghis joins the Primis with a wealth of experience to help drive digital transformation.
RICHMOND, Va., Oct. 30, 2023 — Primis Bank is excited to share that Sonny Werghis was hired as Senior Vice President, Director of Digital Platforms. In this role, he will help the bank reinforce their capabilities to drive the digital transformation of the bank and enhance integration efforts further than ever before.
Prior to Primis, Werghis had made a substantial mark in the technology sector across multiple industries, but specifically has a proven track record of success leading multiple initiatives for various financial services companies throughout his career. His background includes positions such as Director of Software Engineering at US Bank and a Senior Product Manager and Solutions Architect for the IBM Watson group.

When Primis created the role of digital platforms director, leadership knew they needed someone special to fill it; someone with a proven track record and expertise to help guide the bank into the future of digital platforms. He has a unique combination of deep technical skills and the innate ability to quickly grasp project motivations and drivers, allowing him to help lead teams to deliver significant results — and he’s proven that. In his previous role at US Bank, he was tasked with leading a multi-year effort to modernize their legacy platforms, and as a Principal Architecture Consultant at Endava, he led multiple digital platform, core banking and payments modernization projects.
