Seasons Change So Do Homebuyers
Fall is the time of year when kids settle into their new school routines and many gear up for football season. Meanwhile sellers can capitalize on the fact that fewer homes are on the market and buyers are serious – anxious to move into their new homes before the holidays.
Here are a few tips to boost your chances for a quick and lucrative close.
Light it Up. With fewer daylight hours, a home can seem gloomy and dull during fall showings. Turn on lights throughout the house, and outside too. Also consider installing exterior solar lights to increase safety and add visual appeal.
Keep up with the Joneses. No matter the season, sellers should always keep curb appeal top of mind. Clear walkways of dirt or moss, remove lawn debris and leaves and give the windows, shutters, and screens a thorough cleaning.
Make it Cozy. Homes are meant to be comfortable, and fall is a great time to help buyers see themselves cozying up during “sweater weather” season. Incorporate neutral-but-coordinated throws and pillows, light a few unscented candles and place an unlit pine or cinnamon spice-scented candle in the bathroom to create a comforting ambiance.
Switch Things Up. While we all enjoy a good tv show binge, that big black screen can be a real eye sore for potential buyers. Consider removing TVs and rearranging furniture to maximize the space and functionality of the rooms.
No Tricks, But Definitely Treats. As the temps start to dip, open house visitors will appreciate a warm cup of cocoa or fresh-baked cookies to delight their senses. And you don’t have to be Martha Stewart – many grocery stores have premade cookie dough rolls that you can cut and bake in minutes. Need more advice about selling your home?
