5 Tips to Get Your Roof Ready for Spring

Your roof has a big job to do. As it recovers from winter ice and prepares for spring wind and thundershowers, make sure it gets the care it needs. If you can correct roof issues before spring rain arrives, you can prevent a minor issue from turning into a major one.

1. Examine Your Shingles

Are there any shingles missing or curling? Maybe they’re just worn down? If you notice large areas of damage, it may be time for a roof repair or replacement shingles.

2. Check Your Gutters

Make sure your gutters are clean and remove any leaves and debris that may have arrived during the winter.

3. Check for Moss and Mold

Moisture can collect on your roof during the winter, and could cause mold and algae growth. Check out treatment plans or call in a pro to help mitigate this.

4. Avoid Pressure Washing Your Roof

It may seem like a quick cleaning fix, but it can accidentally cause shingle damage.

5. Inspect Your Chimney

Even if your home doesn’t have a fireplace, you may still have a chimney. Make sure that you don’t see any crumbling or bulging bricks. You may also need to seal cracked mortar or caulking if you notice deterioration.

Creating a solid roof is just one of the many important ways to care for your home. If you aren’t comfortable walking on your roof, we get it! Survey what you can from the ground and call in the pros to inspect when you need it.
